4. Emotion I felt at first glance?

Cute, big book, wanted to get started

5. Things I liked?

All of it.

6. Things I disliked?

I don’t use a gym and don’t have the machines. I work out with videos and walking outside. Maybe think about developing another book for non-gym going people – different market sample type of book.

I too reviewed My Gym Trainer 2
I spent a ton of money on a personnel trainer who would put together cards for me to take to the gym. I liked the system because I worked alone and followed each routine exactly how it was laid out for me.. After discovering My Gym Trainer, I realized I don't need to spend a fortune to get the same results. These cards are amazing they lay everything out for you. It gives you goals, rest days, how to set your treadmill incline ,time etc, what days you work on Upper/Lower Body.. I love it. I also like that they have created different levels.. They have a book geared for every fitness level.

These programs are geared for the gym though. I no longer belong to a gym. A lot of my workouts are at home or outside. I would agree with Linda.. They would have a larger market if they had books that catered to the non -gym goer..I did use the section that has treadmill exercises and some upper and lower body workouts using my home equipment. I would love to have a series of books geared for the non-gym goer though. I love the information, pictures the fact the cards are removable etc... Way to go girls keep me posted if new series are coming.. Amazing and truly Fabulous! For anyone that's headed to the Gym. You need to own these books...

My Gym Trainer 2

is a book for the woman who goes to the gym regularly and is wanting some trainer-designed workouts to enhance her exercise routines. Unfortunately (for my body), I am not that woman. I USED to be that workout woman in college when I was on my school's swim team, but these days, the only workout I get is from toting my three-year-old up and down the stairs 20 times a day and an occasional session on the elliptical machine in our garage. But IF I were that woman, I would love this book.

It's a binder containing 4-8 weeks of laminated individual workout cards that are easily removed--perfect for taking into the gym with you. Each card contains either an easy- to-follow weight training, cardio, or core workout. I especially like that each card contains a photograph of the correct way to perform each exercise. These images are in color and are clearly labeled, so there is no wondering as to what "flat bench chest fly" or "bench dip" means. The cardio workouts make use of the exercise bike, the treadmill, and the elliptical trainer. Even though I don't get to the gym (and thus have no access to weight machines, I can do the elliptical routines and also any of the weight training routines involving dumbbells (we have those in our garage, too!)

Along with the detailed workouts, there are various informational sections that give you guidance on stretching, nutrition, and an explanation of the benefits of high intensity interval training. I like the extra information because it adds to the overall fitness program. Even though, I am only using parts of this program, I am receiving health benefits. Now instead of my usual "get on the machine and go till I stop" plan, I have something structured to follow that will give my body better results.

My Gym Trainer 3
I am very impressed with My Gym Trainer 3. For someone who enjoys exercise, I love the way it has a different workout every day, targeting different areas each day. I also love that it has tips and facts throughout the book. The pictures are very helpful and the core workouts seem challenging but achievable. I would use this product with a few of my own variations. One downfall is that it can be very difficult to get to the gym 6 days a week. It would also be helpful to have a few examples of meal ideas and types of foods
that should be eaten with each workout day. Overall, the My Gym Trainer seems like a great tool to help tone and achieve a peak fitness level and I am excited to see the results!

Healthy Snacks for a healthy You!

Interpreting Nutrition Labels

Start with the list of ingredients
Keep an eye out for heart-healthy ingredients such as whole-wheat flour, soy and oats. Monounsaturated fats — such as olive, canola or peanut oils — promote heart health, too.
Avoid unhealthy ingredients, too, such as hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oil.
Keep in mind that ingredients are listed in descending order by weight. The main (heaviest) ingredient is listed first, followed by other ingredients used in lesser amounts.

Consider carbs in context
If your meal plan is based on carbohydrate counting, food labels become an essential tool for meal planning.

Don't miss out on high-fiber foods. Pay special attention to high-fiber foods. Although the grams of sugar and fiber are counted as part of the grams of total carbohydrate, the count can sometimes be misleading. If a food has 5 grams or more fiber in a serving, the American Diabetes Association recommends subtracting the fiber grams from the total grams of carbohydrate for a more accurate estimate of the product's carbohydrate content.

Look at total carbohydrate, not just sugar. Evaluate the grams of total carbohydrate — which includes sugar, complex carbohydrate and fiber — rather than only the grams of sugar. If you zero in on sugar content, you could miss out on nutritious foods naturally high in sugar, such as fruit and milk. And you might overdo foods with no natural or added sugar but plenty of carbohydrate, such as certain cereals and grains.

Do the math

Pay attention to serving sizes. The serving sizes listed on food labels may be different from the serving sizes in your meal plan. If you eat twice the serving size listed on the label, you also double the calories, fat, carbohydrate, protein, sodium and other contents. Walking Poles Balance Walking

Foot Solutions Chung Shi shoes.. The best of the best..

Katie McCatty:

"I've struggled with my weight since I was a kid, but I've finally found
success with a system that works for me - and fits into my busy lifestyle.
I've recently lost 80 pounds and am working to maintain my weight loss. I
discovered Balance Walking when looking for a new form of exercise - and I
love it!

Here's what I'm doing: around noon daily, I make time after lunch to meet up
with a friend, take my dog, or go by myself for a walk. It's amazing -
Balance Walking turns a regular walk into a full body workout by adding
Nordic Walking poles and specially designed rocker sole shoes. Bringing the
upper body into the workout it's a huge bonus as in the same 15 minutes I
can burn almost twice as many calories. And I can do it while I'm
socializing with my girlfriends.

Sometimes it is hard to set aside fifteen minutes in the day but the reward
is so gratifying I make sure to fit it into my schedule. Because it is more
intense, even when using brief walking sessions I still receive weight loss
benefits.

Before my scheduled "me time" I was dragging by late afternoon and out of
energy when the kids got home from school. But by allowing this time for
myself, I feel rejuvenated and ready for anything. It is as though I went
from starting strong and fizzling out, to getting two fresh starts in one
day. I tackle some morning errands, take a "Balance Walking Break for ME!"
and then am refueled for my afternoon tasks. Now that I know what I was
missing now I make my "me time" a top priority." Katie McCatty, Orland Park,

Typically, measure your hoop size diameter from the floor to your belly button for a good fit. Hoopers tend to start with heavier hoops when they get started because the hoops are easier to use, then move on to lighter hoops as they get better with tricks. You can also find collapsible hoops for travel, that fit easily into a carry on for a quick 10 minute, low impact cardio workout when traveling. (Hoopify! carries collapsibles as well) This is a must try.. Not your typical spin or aerobics class.. I dare you to try this...

"My Thoughts For Today"

January has been all about Health and Fitness. The Fabulous Finds is all about "Finding the good in life". I try hard to find products that fit the bill.. So this month I am focusing on just that..

Here is what I have to say for Today..
I find exercises to be a tough task.. I have to really motivate myself to get going in the morning..I swear as I get older I feel more tired, sluggish.. Getting my body going really helps me.. Yeah, I am saying some nasty words when I first start out, but then I feel like a champ afterwards. I find I have more Patience with my kids and husband and my day to day life. Staying fit not only help me mentally but physically... I am not an expert in the field by any means. My sister is a personnel trainer and guides me in the right direction.. Well let me refrain that. She tries to guide me... It's hard taking direction from her? Call me crazy...
I guess in a nut shell get up ,put on your clothes.. Nothing fancy ladies.. The yoga mat, treadmill don't care what you look like.. You should be proud that you are up and getting your heart pumping..I will say "I am not one to give advice" I do however hope you take & digest what I wrote.. Leave me a comment.. I would love to get you going... I have said in many posts I am willing to work with anyone that wants to change the direction of their life.. I am up for any challenge. I am all about the positive and I will help motivate you and create a friendship with you.. I leave it at that.. Have a FABULOUS day!

A women's success story that's a must read!

Joanne Giannini

By the time I was 39, I was a mess both mentally and physically. My life revolved around taking care of everyone else in my life and putting my own needs and wants last. As a result, I was depressed, severely overweight, and just not at all comfortable in my own skin. I went through the motions everyday, feeling like I was practically invisible.

I was 40 when I finally took back control of my life. Working out in my own living room using inexpensive and easily available tools, such as dumbbells, resistance bands, and stability balls, I totally reshaped my body while losing 60 pounds. But the changes in my physical appearance were only the very beginning. Taking care of myself changed me, giving me confidence, energy, and focus beyond anything I had ever experienced before.

As a result of my weight-loss success, I have been featured in both Prevention Magazine (March 2008) and SHAPE Magazine (August 2009). I was also chosen to be “Ms. September” in the Prevention Magazine 2009 wall calendar and appear in an infomercial that is currently broadcast nationally for The Wave, an exercise product developed by The Firm, a fitness organization that has been around for 20+ years. Additionally, my weight-loss journey is included in a recently published book, “A Happy You: Your Ultimate Prescription for Happiness,” written by Elizabeth Lombardo, Ph.D. I could have never imagined any of this just a few years ago.

My goal is to “pay it forward” and work with people on a one-on-one basis to help them get past the hurdles that have stopped them from becoming their own personal best. In support of this, over the past few years I have obtained numerous nationally recognized fitness certifications and worked in area gyms as a personal trainer. I truly believe that it is never too late to be in the best shape of your life!

A true Inspiration!

7 years ago, La Cresha Johnson had a baby and was entirely out of shape. As a former modern jazz and ballet dancer from San Francisco, this was a very uncomfortable place for her to be in her life.

When she was pregnant, she gained nearly 70 pounds and was struggling to feel good about her new found body shape. She had relocated to Atlanta from the San Francisco Bay Area, was adjusting to new change and a new life, and really wanting to get the "baby weight" off of her body.

One day, it hit her. She decided she had grown tired of being considered fat and people making snide comments about her. She had grown tired of being tired. She wanted change and she wanted it badly. She knew she always relied on dance when she was younger but didn't think dance was in her life in that manner anymore. She decided to start running even though she was never a runner before.
She would run everyday in her neighborhood until it became a habit. She just kept on running and never stopped running. She then teamed up with some fellow church mates at Bishop Eddie Long's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Samson Gym and started working out with weights. "Once I started combining weight training with running is when the weight started dropping off like crazy. I started to be very encouraged. That's when I decided to enter a Atlanta fitness competition and keep it going."

La Cresha Johnson changed her body, her mind, and entered into a fitness competition in Suwanee, GA. She expected nothing but getting experience and saying that she was in a competition. At the end of the competition, and not expecting much at all, they called her name as first place winner in her class. She was astonished and amazed. Right after that, she dedicated her life to helping mothers and women lose weight and get into great shape. She now trains women in the Lithonia, Decatur, and Atlanta area. You can reach La Cresha Johnson for a confidential nutrition analysis and workout plan at 678-437-3286.

Struggling the fight off the winter blues and extra holiday pounds??

Celebrity Stylist and Yummie Tummie Creator, Heather Thomson, offers must-have slimming secrets to look great in 2010!

Go long for versatility and style.

With cold winter days here, we can all benefit from a few extra inches of fabric. The look is chic, flattering, and keeps you warm. The long Yummie Tummie tank is perfect for adding a new dimension to your wardrobe without adding unwanted bulk. Let your favorite long Yummie Tummie tank peek out from under a fitted shirt or funky fur vest paired with skinny jeans for sleek, long lines that will have you looking slim, confident and cozy all winter long.

Sky high heels lengthen and slim.

One of my favorite tricks for hiding unwanted pounds is throwing on a pair of high heels. They are great for lengthening your silhouette and perfecting your posture so you stand up straighter and taller. Try a pair of over-the-knee boots or classic pumps for a slimming update to any outfit. And while designer styles are delicious, you don’t need to break the bank for a new pair of shoes. Check-out brands like Steven Madden or Aldo for the season’s hottest trends at affordable prices.

Feminine and flirty add lux to your look.

Embrace being a lady with feminine ruffles and bows this season. You will be surprised at what a little girly glamour can do for your confidence. Try a 40’s inspired suit with a belted jacket and pencil skirt in wonderful wools and tweeds. Pair it with a darling ruffled blouse which will take you through the season and even into spring. My must have tip for pulling off this look with confidence- the Yummie Tummie Briefie which slims your belly and gives you an hour-glass shape to show off your ladylike style.

Wrap it up for effortless style.

Classy wrap coats and dresses are perfect for carving your waist for an effortlessly sexy style. Invest in this look and you are sure to wear it to death. No need to worry about a few extra lumps and bumps leftover from the holiday season either. The Yummie Tummie Peek-A-Boo Cami will perfectly smooth away unsightly belly bulge while highlighting your best assets.

Statement jewelry for instant glam.

Chunky necklaces, stacked bracelets and embellished rings are a must-have for adding a little flare to your style this season. Layered jewelry is the perfect accent to everything from pencil skirts to boyfriend jeans. An added bonus, it will draw the attention away from trouble spots leftover from the holiday party season. Check-out trendy boutiques for unique pieces and the best bargains.

Give your wardrobe an affordable facelift.

You don’t need to spend a ton of money for an updated look in the New Year. My approach to fashion is to take the latest trends and mix a little bit new with a little of what you’ve already got. Simply invest in a great, versatile, go-to piece for the season such as a strong shoulder boyfriend blazer. Wear it over a girly top and skirt, sexy dress or black leggings when heading out on the town. Or throw it over your favorite Yummie Tummie Tank, a tissue soft cotton t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans for a casual layered look perfect for winter weekends.

Skip New Year’s Resolutions, get a Yummie January boost instead.

New Year’s resolutions are a lot of pressure, especially when you’re already working as hard as you can. Instead, start the year fresh by giving yourself a break and a boost at the same time: get a Yummie Tummie. Yummie Tummie gives you the freedom to be your best self in everyday outfits, from layering a Long Sleeved Body V under a cardigan, to dressing up jeans for girls-night out with the jeweled neckline Glamour Tank. Whichever fabulous style you choose, it will leave you looking terrific and give you a rush of feel-good energy- just what you need to get moving on a New Year’s project, whether it’s a workout routine or weekly bubble bath.

Heather is the go-to expert for celebrities such as Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez and now you too can take advantage of her insider tricks to a slim and stylish new you.
